How Credits Work
Credits are the universal currency of the Steno.ai platform. They are used for every action: processing your uploaded content, training your AI Twin, and powering user interactions—including text messages, real-time voice calls, and video calls.
Credit Breakdown
- Text Interaction: 3 credits per message received by the AI Twin
- Voice Interaction: 10 credits per minute of conversation
Usage Estimation
For Recurring Engagement (e.g., members, students):
Budget approximately 100 credits per user per month.
Example: 500 users × 100 credits = 50,000 credits needed → Scale plan
For Sales/Prospecting (e.g., website visitors):
Budget approximately 10 credits per user per month.
Example: 4,000 prospects × 10 credits = 40,000 credits needed → Growth plan
Credit Overages
What Happens If I Go Viral?
We never shut you off unexpectedly. We monitor usage and will notify you as you approach your limits. You can then choose to:
- Upgrade to the next tier for a better cost-per-credit value
- Pay an overage fee for that month at a seamless per-credit rate
Your success shouldn’t break your infrastructure.
Do Unused Credits Roll Over?
No, unused credits expire at the end of each subscription term and are non-refundable.

Yes, you have full flexibility. Many customers sell their AI Twin as a standalone subscription (e.g., $49/mo) with multiple tiers, while others bundle it as a bonus or companion to an existing product or service.

A percentage fee applies to transactions processed through the Steno.ai platform:
- Starter: 9%
- Growth: 8%
- Scale: 7%
- Enterprise: 6%
Free Trials & Freemium Models
You can structure your access to entice users with an initial free experience—like limited text chats—and then upsell them to a paid subscription for full access or voice capabilities.

Do You Offer Unlimited Usage?
We do not offer unlimited usage plans, as our costs are directly tied to usage. However, our Enterprise tiers can scale to accommodate millions of users.
